About me

That's me.

Hi - nice to have you here!
I'm Zacharias Bürck and here you can find some information about me and my projects.

For about 15 years I have been developing my great passion for creating images that move, touch and inspire people. If the audience is captivated by the movie and is left differently than before - crying, laughing, thinking or simply well entertained - then I have done my job well.
Only film has the quality to tell so many emotions, places, people and stories...

I have been working primarily as a Director of Photography (DoP) for some time now, although I also like to colorgrade my shots when possible.
I also work as a Directing DoP, Producer and Editor for several projects and media companies.
These include my former company BLACK LIGHT, which I ran with my colleague Gabriel Lorenz from 2014 to 2023, and my current company FILMKLUB, of which I have shared the management with Franz Leibinger since 2023.
In addition to my work at FILMKLUB, I also enjoy working externally as a freelancer.

I learned my skills autodidactically through many internships, collaborations and co-productions in various film productions worldwide: from Munich to Sydney to Cologne. There I worked in pre-/post-production as well as on set during production and was able to take on many different positions. I also learned an incredible amount from my own projects, as well as continuing my education through a lot of workshops, experienced contacts and diverse learning material.

From a (camera) technical point of view, I have also gained a lot of experience, from small DSLRs and analog film to high-end cinema cameras. I currently enjoy working with cameras from ARRI, Canon, Sony and occasionally RED. The selection of lenses I use is even more varied - Canon, Leica, Zeiss, ARRI, Kowa, Lomo, Xelmus, Angenieux, Cooke, etc. are no strangers to me. Over time, I have developed a special passion for lenses with a strong character. This is why I founded Lens Lovers, a small cine lens rental company, together with two colleagues.

I particularly enjoy moving images that support the action. So I prefer to use the whole spectrum of possibilities - with slider, jib arm, camera crane, dolly, gimbal, Steadicam, drone and of course tripod or handheld, I get the camera moving.

I always strive to tell special stories and inspire with my pictures. I am constantly working on my skills and the quality of my shots - every option for development is worth its weight in gold and that never stops!

I am always happy to meet new contacts within (and outside) our fascinating film industry.
If you are still looking for a cameraman, technical support for your project or just want to chat a bit about technology and movies - let's have a coffee! :-)
